For the second year, Tahoe dog lovers came out to get a little exercise, play games and raise money during the 2nd Annual ACT Mutt Strut Poker Run! People and dogs alike enjoyed the beautiful weather - many walkers won a great prize, and we raised over $1500 to benefit the ACT spay/neuter program and the El Dorado County Animal Shelter.
Thank you to the Ski Run Business Improvement District for supporting the walk, the Alder Inn and the Ski Run Marina for providing the registration and closing party sites, Fast Print and Redwood Printing for the flyers and tickets, and Blue Angel Café, Deerfield Lodge, Black Bear Inn, Chevy’s Fresh Mex, and Art for the Home for participating along the route.
The following media were most generous in informing the community about the Mutt Strut: Tahoe Daily Tribune, Mountain News, Charter Cable, RSN, South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, and KRLT. Brian Williams with Media West took great photos of the fun.
A special thank you to the following local merchants who participated by donating raffle and poker hand prizes: Black Bear Inn, Riva Grill, Camp Richardson, 2 Dogs & A Cat Petique, Round Hill Animal Hospital, Sidestreet Boutique, Pandora's Trunk, Simplicity Salon, Placer Title, Pet Supermarket, Pazzazz, Ski Run Boat Company, Zephyr Feed and Board, Hot Cha Cha, Pawfection Pet Salon, Tahoe Bowl, LJ’s Jewelers, Petsmart, Brothers Bar and Grill, and Marcelle and Dale Linkous.
We are also grateful to our volunteers who sold tickets, helped participants select playing cards, and assisted at the awards party: Annie Hubberts, Arla Haines, Brittany Hubberts, Debbie Maus, Gay Eitel, Jen Craig, Judy Haramese, Peter Spellman, Tony Colombo, and Valorie Hubberts – we couldn’t have done it without you. Thanks also to Dr. Kelly Doria for bringing her mobile veterinary clinic for all to tour.
Finally, congratulations to Erik Ulman and Maka, winners of the grand prize, with the best poker hand – 4 queens!
